I would say potential is from looking at performance but I'm no expert and there are probably people more deserving to be in the top 10 but just for example I rate DeGale above Chisora despite him having more fights against higher opposition.

1. froch- because he'll fight anybody in one of the best devisions and give them trouble if not win.

2. haye- although unproven in the heavyweights his achievements at cruiser were great.

3. khan- i still question his chin as that 10th round could of been stopped.

4. clev- because he's are next big thing no doubt.

5. roades- because of the way he stopped moore who i rated.

6. murry- he may not last long with his style but he'll reach the top before his chin goes.

7. degale- no doubt are best prospect. paul smith is euro standard and he was delt with ease.

8. burns- i dont see burns holding his title long but he still has it so he's gotta be in their.

9. mccloskey- great fighter but to unproven and i think khan will expose him.

10. crolla- made great progress in the last year and i can only see him getting better.

honorable mentions.

11. gavin- this years his year.
12. brook- looks good but needs to step up.
13. rees- always dangerous.

 

1. froch- For me speaks for himself, No one can argue this IMO

2. Khan- Coming off a solid victory against maidana

3.Haye- for me has done nothing of note since he went heavyweight (you can can argue valuev but holyfield beat him in my eyes)

4. Burns - World champion, great victory against martinez

5. Clev - About to fight for a world title, a class act in my eyes

6. Munroe - Lost in a difficult world title fight away from home, I think he could win a world title with the right opportunity

7. Rhodes - Close to world level, isnt active enough to be higher

8. Murray - Unbeaten, needs a step up in level

9. Brook - Close to world title fight, hasn't really beat anyone of note

10. McDonnell - Seems to have came out of nowhere and done very well

Obviously Gavin and Degale will be on the list this time next year, for me they aren't ready yet

 

I generally go on how i feel each boxer levels are at that moment, although Degale hasnt acheied as much or have a better resume i believe he is more equipped to beat better opposition in his weight division than most others even at this point in his career. Im sure this will be a big year for him and by the end he will have justified his position in my top ten.

Fair enough Cleverly has done more and if he wins against Braemer he deservedly moves up, probably to four but he was appauling last time out and the boxers on his resume arent exactly great but are solid level competitors.

As for Munroe im a big fan but im not sure he can go much further than he is now. Hopefully he'll get another world title shot but even if he does I dont fancy him over any of the current champs.

I agree completely. Should be based on accomplishments and accomplishments alone. We all know Gavin and DeGale are better than most of the guys in the top 15 right now but until they prove it they don't go in.

 

It's not mental to have DeGale in the top 10 at all. It's perfectly logical. Waiting around for him to beat up a few more domestic/eurobums so he can make the list is obtuse to the point of stupidity. He's a class above, hence he deserves to be on the lower end of a list.

 

I wouldn't say DeGale is any less proven than a Brook or Macklin, just because he's only had 9 fights.

DeGale's wins over Horton, Dilks and Smith is better than anything Brook has done, and at worst on a par with Macklin who whilst having beaten a couple of half decent fighters lost by stoppage to the best opponent he's faced.

 

Theres also the fact DeGale would be about 1/10 on to beat the type of opponents that would supposedly propel him ahead of a lot of these names. What the ****s the point denying the obvious here. He's got a very good win under his belt over a fringe European type fighter, a dominating win, he's very talented. End.

No, I never said that. I just rate De Gale as a better fighter. It's my top 10, not yours.

 

He ain't far wrong. The only difference is in the fact DeGale has one win whereas the others have a few on the same level. Brook has beaten hardly anyone great. Nobody better than Smith, and everyone knows my feelings on Smith that I made clear before DeGale fought him. Brook's opposition is abysmal for how many fights he's had. Jennings who he didn't even get a convincing result against, Barrie Jones, Kevin McIntyre. Hardly stuff of legend we're talking about, I don't see how DeGale doesn't compete with that with a dominating win away from home.

 

He is a class above based on one win over a domestic level fighter made for his style. Beat Groves and win the European title and top 8 is acceptable........but he hasnt done that yet.
