Casual alert. Not that a P4P list that has Fury who’s only relevant win is over a guy who he outweighed by 40lbs at #3 should be taken seriously but, do you have any idea when the last time an undisputed cruiserweight champion moved up to become unified champion at heavyweight?
Dear oh dear FTR, for the Loma has 3 losses brigade who very often have Jermello ranked really high. Jermello should have 3 losses and Loma should only have 1 To Harrison, Castano, and the 7lbs lighter Vanes. Unlike Loma all at his first weight, a weight he's massive for Against smaller opponents or ones his size And in his country He could've rematched Castano in Argentina with an Argentine ref and three Argentine judges to make it fair but of course he wouldn't even contemplate it Not against opponents who weigh 2-4 divisions more than him 2 in his opponent's backyards with all the officials coming from his opponent's backyards, the other on the road but essentially in his opponent's backyard with the most corrupt ref in the sport being their tag-team partner, And 2 of them at his third weight and one he's tiny for. It's like comparing apples to oranges. They're doing two very different things
1- Inoue 2- Usyk 3- Crawford 4- Canelo 5- Beterbiev 6- Bivol 7- Fury 8- Lopez 9- Haney 10- Maybe Loma
From what I can remember the Argentines did not offer to host Jermell vs Castano 2 nor could they offer more money to make it happen. Jermell also closed the show in the rematch and became pound for pound. As for Loma every dog has its day. Yes Loma is a great fighter perhaps the greatest amateur boxer in history but it’s clear he is probably past his best though still a good fighter. The fact he is no longer pound for pound only goes to show that his time has come and gone. No doubt he will fight the likes of Shakur and Tank who will beat him.
Even if they didn't Jermello could've offered to do so. As you know, I'm a firm believer in if your opponent fights you in your backyard/country, you should oblige them in their backyard/country for the rematch, especially more so if the first fight was super controversial And at the very least the judges should've been neutral for the rematch after the three three home judges robbed Castano in the first fight but once again they were all from the US which meant that Castano had to try and take it out of their hands and be more aggressive which made him more vulnerable to walking into something which is exactly what happened. And guess what he was right, they were going to rob him even if he did enough to win and that became clear when we saw their scorecards because one of them only gave him a round and another only 2 which was extremely unfair or rather corrupt. And even worse, they tried to stage the rematch in Houston You are indeed correct he is indeed past his best and has been for a number of years, but he is still ranked in the P4P top 10. He should retire. Don't forget that he's the one who put in all the hard work unifying three of the belts individually on the road in a division full of giants he doesn't belong in and then he fell at the final hurdle of achieving his dream against a way bigger murderous puncher who didn't belong in the division either but for the complete opposite reason. Then he had to regroup and start from scratch again and when he did so he was cruelly denied his place in history when he was robbed against yet another gigantic 135 pounder in Haney who weighed 20lbs more than him. Now that Haney has ducked the rematch people expect an old 35-36 year old Loma to start from scratch again trying to win the belts all individually again after he's already been robbed twice in the US and knows the same fate very likely awaits him again should he do enough to get his hand raised.
I know and understand your preference however the bottom is money talks and BS walks. Professional boxers fight for money and will always go where they can make the most money. You know my philosophy encapsulated by Azumah Nelson which is when you fight in your opponents hometown you just win you beat him up badly and turn his fans into your fans.
Again, Olu, at the very least the judges should be neutral if that's the case and it's extremely rare it ever is in the US. It's literally the only country in the world where you will find a home ref and three home judges for world title fights between a home boy and a foreigner and it's extremely common over there for them And even worse, Jermello vs Castano was for undisputed. Nelson was a big puncher, many fighters are not.
Also many great champions in fact legendary ones did not become Undisputed and it did not tarnish their legacy. I know he is your hero and you love him, I am not callous and I understand. Should he decide to retire now or in the near future then I wish Comrade Vassily the best for the rest of his life, we shall never forget him. We wish the whole family well in particular his beautiful dutiful wife Olena, their 2 beautiful children and great trainer Anatoly Lomachenko a.k.a.Papachenko.
You need to see more from the former European Champion, Amateur World Champion, Olympic gold medalist, the first undisputed CW champion of the world in the four belt era and the reigning undefeated and unified HW champion of the world who already defended his titles twice against two top opponents in the last 12 months. He is not even in the top 10 because you "need to see more". But you have Fury, the guy who fought two top guys (and even that's very generous) in the last eight years and only ever defended his title three times since 2015 when he first became a champion and who is about to have an exhibition against a non-boxer instead of defending his belt against a legit challenger, on the list as number 3. That's probably the funniest s*** I've ever read on this forum.
#1 Naoya Inoue #2 Oleksandr Usyk #3 Terence Crawford #4 Saul Alvarez #5 Artur Beterbiev #6 Teofimo Lopez #7 Kenshiro Teraji #8 Dmitry Bivol #9 Emanuel Navarrete #10 Jermell Charlo
Uncle Azumah was also a very good boxer as well as a puncher. Loma’s boxing ability was to much for many champions he even made some of them quit. We play with the hands we are dealt. Castano knew the score. It’s wrong to diminish Jermell’s great achievements in becoming undisputed something many will not achieve. In Britain not many achieved it, in the 3 belt era my friend the great Lloyd Honeyghan did when he defeated my hero Donald Curry, Lennox Lewis did it and of course in the 4 belt era Josh Taylor who needs to rediscover his mojo.
Olu, I return fire when those try to diminish Loma and context is key and there's an awful lot of it which gets ignored And the only reason why Castano and Loma did not become undisputed is because of corruption and the deck being stacked with a full set of home officials. This is not something either Jermello and Haney have or will ever have to contend with. There is nothing remotely wrong or unreasonable with me calling for a more fair playing field. We don't stack the deck with a home ref and three home judges for world title fights between one of our boys and a foreigner *no other country apart from the US does* Hell, we'll often have neutral officials for non-world titles fights over here when foreigners travel to our shores. Of course foreigners get robbed here often too but if we stacked the deck against them with a full set of home officials I would strongly oppose it and speak out about it.
