The Rumble is a good fight, but Ali is human in it. Against Williams, it looked like the God of War himself came down to fight Williams, show us puny humans what boxing is all about.

If we're just naming great performances of great fighters, Mayweather vs. Corrales is a favorite of mine.

Mike McCallum, but his best performance is a bit hard to pin down. I'm going for the Watson one, though, looking at the context. So beautiful and so satisfying. Not that Watson was KO'd, but just how McCallum dealt with a younger, stronger fighter.

Yeah, the one where Ali proves his mastery against a prime top contender is the Terrell fight more than perhaps any other, but he's just so easy on the eyes against Williams that it's unbelievable.

Sometimes picking your favourite fighter is like being asked to pick your favourite child so since I have three children, I will pick three of my favourite boxers and what I think was their finest performances.

Julio Cesar Chavez vs Edwin Rosario
Evander Holyfield vs Dwight Muhammad Qawi 2
    Mike Tyson vs Tyrell Biggs

Tyson vs Biggs is a top performance, but a bit of a hard watch. Tyson punished him viciously. The same goes for Ali vs Terrell, tbf.

Sanchez against Gomez I guess. He was mesmerizing against Lopez too, but Gomez figured to provide more of a stylistic challenge. Turned out to be a thrashing, albeit a good fight that showcased all his tools. Except, ironically, the typical display of late-round stamina.

Ray Leonard vs Thomas Hearns. Two prime Atg's . Both demonstrated great skills, Great adaptability, great physicality.
    Leonard's determination was the difference.
Duran vs Leonard in Montreal was Duran's greatest fight.
But I actually prefer his fight against Davey Moore.
All the " Experts" predicted Duran's demise against the bigger, stronger, and younger Moore.
But watching Duran giving the underrated Moore a complete beat down , and get some redemption from his meltdown against Leonard in New Orleans is one of my best boxing memories.
    Hearns vs Shuler.
Hearns coming off the devastating loss to Hagler was thought ready to be had by the young undeafeated up and coming Shuler.
But one clean right hand, and the world found out Hearns wasn't as past prime as some may have thought.
Azumah Nelson vs Jeff Fenech # 2.
Nelson said he had malaria in the 1st fight , and it was the reason it was close.
Well, he proved it in the rematch, taking Fenech apart.

I agree with you in the assessment of McCallum's performance in that fight. Along with a lot of others I thought that Watson was going to win that one.

I like Watson and in that way it's not nice seeing him being broken down and KO'd like that, but it's just such an exhibition of boxing at it's finest. In most other sports Watson's superior physical ability would have won him the day easily, but this is really a showcase of how much experience, ring iq and skill matters in boxing.

Holmes is my second favorite fighter of all-time. I'm picking Shavers 1 as his best performance. What a master display of boxing Holmes showed in that fight.
