    ERIK MORALES vs

    1. Barrera II - This was a peak MAB & for once in a big fight (any fight), Morales boxed technically from long range & did what most felt NOBODY at 126 could do, beat Barrera, but the old boxing politics fueled by both MABs constant cries of robbery in their 1st fight + the desire for a big money rubber match meant hat Morales would suffer his 1st loss at the hands of his fiercest rival.

    2. Pacquiao I - Erik mixed his boxing with his brawling in this fight to get the better of the Pacman in his last win to date, furious with himself for allowing the 3rd MAB fight to slip away he was determined to beat the man that MAB & JMM could not beat.

    3. Ayala - A serious Morales, still angry from his contraversial points loss to MAB in their 2nd fight put on a great technical boxing display mixed with more than enough toe to toe action to hand Ayala his 1st ever clear defeat.

    4. Barrera I - A 50/50 fight, could have gone either way, best fight I ever saw, Morales showed how much heart & toughness he had in this fight when MAB tested his chin & body like never nobody before, Erik maybe didnt fight his smartest fight but this was certainly his gutsiest display, the punches he took & the way he constantly responded was nothing short of astounding, I was a fan for life after seeing the 23 yr old Morales in this fight.

    5. Hernandez/McCullouch - Morales, as usual mixed his boxing with his slugging in both these fights to win a clear decision in both, he probably took more & gave more to Wayne but Erik was the bigger guy in that one where as he was the smaller man vs Hernandez but the end result was the same, neither man had the skills to stop El Terrible from pulling away thru the mid rds.

(I included the 2nd MAB fight because the title of the thread asked for best performances rather than best wins.)

    Manny Pacquiao

#5. Jorge Julio- On the undercard of LL/Tyson w/ millions watching Pac storms on to the scene with an impressive 2nd rd KO of a "decent" fighter. Pac's 3rd fight in the U.S and my first encounter with the PacMan.

#4. Erik Morales 1,2,3- His war with EM the first time around showed that he could hang with the best. If not for a nasty cut who knows how the rest of that fight goes. In the 2nd fight he's far more impressive, vastly improved and stops the unstoppable Morales. The 3rd fight? Well, that just goes to show what happens when you go 22 rounds with Pacquiao.

#3. JMM1- Moreso the 1st round than the whole fight. While the fight ended in a draw that both sides have reasonable right to dispute, that first round made boxing pundits take notice.

#2. MAB1- WOW. If you didn't know who PacMan was before this fight you damn well knew him after. Who expected this kid to come in and stop the legend?

#1. DeLaHoya- The reason I've got this at #1 is twofold. For one, NOBODY gave him a chance. Most thought he wouldn't last 8 rounds, let alone stop DLH in 8! Second, this is DeLaHoya we're talking about. Boxing's Golden Goose, the most identifiable name in the sport and here comes Manny Pacquiao to ruin the party for millions of casual observers and googly eyed females. With 24 minutes of work PacMan is transformed from national hero to international phenom.

    HONORABLE MENTIONS
David Diaz- Pac's first and only fight at lightweight. Against an overmatched "champion" that he was favored to beat. But would his power travel with him north of 135? Guess so.

    Pac

    1. MAB I

moving up in weight and winning every round against a top3 p4p fighter and then knocking him out. Wow.

    2. Ledwaba

first fight on HBO. Fought the champion and a top15 p4p on 2 weeks notice. Absolutely pulverized him. This was actually on the undercard of an ODLH fight. Who would have thought at that time

    3. Morales II

After moving up in weight to lose a close battle to Morales, Pacquiao comes back from defeat and becomes the first man to ever knock him out. Until that point Morales has never fallen to the canvas. Pacquiao punctuates this performance with a follow up KO later that year.

    4. JMM II

Pacquiao beats a very confident and well prepared JMM. Both put in a masterful performance. I believe that there are few fighters in history that could have beaten these guys on that night.

    5. Pac vs Oscar

Pac moves up 2 weightclasses, steps up to the biggest stage in boxing, and pitches a shutout against a faded legend before knocking him out. Described by commentators as "a virtuoso performance". Oscar has never been so soundly beaten in his carreer. A truly dominant performance, against all odds.
