I scored it 114-113 for Golovkin. For me, it was a very close fight where the knockdown made the difference.
The jabs and the knockdown was what made the difference for me. Still, Jacobs had a great performance himself, great combinations, he does deserve a rematch.
this is my score as well your card is same as mine, except for Rds 1 & 11; i had them 10 - 9 the other way there are a two maybe three rounds i gave to Jacobs that i thought were very close, and i think going the other way would also have been justified because of GGG's relentless forward pressure and Jacobs almost equally persistent movement away from GGG
Many people scored rounds for Jacobs out of sympathy, him being a cancer survivor and all, people felt that surviving or trying your hardest warrants a round won.
Danny's got to take more risks offensively if he plans to win next time around. I know surviving 12 against GGG hadn't even been done until he did it, but it's just a bad look to the judges for the larger man to fight off the back foot and still get controlled by the jab (not that GGG landing the bigger shots helped his cause, either). He outperformed my expectations and deserves credit for sure, but he's going to have to take more chances next time out to get over the hump. He can't be so reluctant when it comes to countering the jab unless he's happy losing competitively on points again.
GGG won but he looked decidedly average and that's coming from a big fan who bought all the hype, the way he let Jacobs take over in the championship rounds was very alarming indeed. I don't think Jacobs looked all too impressive either.
I wasn't a fan of GGG's body language for the Brook or Jacobs fight; seemed like he was going through the motions and a bit, for lack of a better word, bored. Had Jacobs not been fighting such a safety first fight, he might've nicked it. His reluctance cost him.
