Oh, I remember that fight! After that fight, I was really thinking that Cintron was going to stop Margarito (who I used to root for before the handwrapping scandal). Cintron looked very good that night (physically and mentally).

Thanks for trying. Yes he was incredibly fit and strong there. He achieved personal bests in all his lifts in the weight room, and ran 8 miles in 52 minutes cross country.

 

No offense because I don't know a thing about you but Ronnie Shields is a fine trainer who has handled all sorts of fighters with different styles. Juan Diaz isn't the only guy hes ever worked with. You don't need to trash Shields because you're bitter about not working with Cintron anymore.

Shields was in his corner when he beat Angulo, probably the best win of his career and he did that by boxing not by hitting hard. You had Cintron fighting nobodies, hes fighting the big boys now. Put him in with the same guys he fought pre Margarito and he'd look like a killer all over again.

 

Yes thats right you don't know me, and you don't know Ronnie Shields. I do know Ronnie Shields. Spent time at his gym when in Houston for Kermits fight with Reid. I watched our fighter Travis Kauffman beat the **** out of the at the time undefeated, and very hyped Dominick Guinn. I watched as Ronnie Shields was at a total loss as to how to advise Guinn on how to deal with Travis. I watched at Ronnie Shields literally turned his back, left the ring, and then went n coached some other fighter before Guinn was done sparring.
Yes Kermit did squeak by Alfredo "I am fighting with the flu" Angulo. Yes Kermit sure is fighting nothing but the big boys. Life and death with David Estrada. Life and death with Jesse Feliciano. Mark Suarez. Fransisco Parra. Juliano Ramos. Carlos Molina. Antwone Smith. Definitely a murderers row. LOL
Paul Williams he jumps out of the ring to avoid him. Sergio Martinez beat him pillar to post. Every single fight he has had since he left us has been a struggle, or a loss unless its been against a total no hoper.
Kermit has looked impressive only one time since we parted ways, and that was against Mathysse, and that was because he was being trained by Manny Steward. .. the only trainer I feel that knows how to make the most out of a fighter of Kermits physical abilities.
Your choice of Angulo as Kermits best win tells me you are nothing more then a casual HBO boxing fan. You're probably one of those guys that thoought Kirkland would have Angulo for breakfast.
Teddy Reid was a nightmare at 147. Watch the fight and listen to Manny Steward recall how he pulled Vernon Forrest out of a fight with Reid because Forrests shoulder was not 100%. Teddy Reid... sent home by Paul Williams because Reid was giving it to him. Ike Quartey sent him home for the same reason. So did Oscar De la Hoya. William Joppy kicked him out of camp. So did Kieth Holmes. He is a notoriously vicious in sparring.
I know Teddy Reid personally. He has been to my house, and spent time at our gym. The sparring footage he has with the above mentioned guys was amazing. Also saw footage of him dropping heavyweights with one shot. One of them being Brian Minto, and not sure who the other was. he dropped both with one shot.
That fight was by far the best performance of Kermits career. He took on a brutal punching, vicious fighter that threw over 100 punches a round. Teddy Reid had never been dropped in his career. Kermit dropped him twice for tko win. Took some clean punches from a fighter whom I believe to be one of the hardest punchers ever p4p.

 

Bitter because I don't work with him? I know the "REAL" Kermit Cintron. After Margarito Cintron 1 I was done win or lose... by my choice. Kermit **** on everyone that was good to him, and always had someone else to blame for his shortcomings in the ring, the gym, and as a man. If people knew the things I do about him.... WOW. But.... I will stick to boxing because this is a boxing forum. He is a creep... rotten to the core. I am bitter because I helped someone that didnt deserve it, and never appreciated it.

I always thought Cintron more capable than his achievements, an enigma. I've also seen him as a simpathetic figure too, Margarito's cement hands being the slayer of his confidence. Your opinion on this matter sheds new light on this for me...I appreciate the info you give, it's a unique position of incite your pov holds.

Would love to hear the outside the ring info but, respect that you won't go there...

 

I have never exaggerated or embellished when it came to my experiences with Kermit, and if you all knew what I knew... i can say with complete confidence he would have ZERO fans.
Also... Margaritos hands wraps were no different then anyone elses when we fought him.

 

He looked really good in that fight with Reid. His punches were crisp, he held his hands high, and he didn't brawl when it was completely against him to do so. I think he was mentally much better then, too. Even when hit with some huge shots by Reid, Cintron came right back and never really faltered. Against Smith, he just wasn't the same fighter.

I just re-watched the fight out of spiked curiosity to this thread.

I must say that I do believe Kermit was hurt. Not out on his feet, but the only times someone acts so foolish is when they are concerned with how they are appearing which is because they are getting pummeled. And that first KD in the 4th was beyond legit. I believe Cintron was hurt vs. Margarito. If you want to explain why you believe what you do, that'd be sweet...

By the way, really cool you field questions and comments. It is awesome to interact with someone with your unique experience.

 

Everything I've read about opposing trainers who watched Margarito's hands being wrapped pre-Mosely says nothing was suspicious. Even Mosely's trainer said there was nothing particularly suspicious during the wrapping, I don't remember his reason for the re-wrap request. I'm not saying you're wrong and I know you honestly don't think the gloves were loaded. But, Margarito's team fooled some pretty darn good trainers along the way, isn't there the slightest doubt in your mind?
