I think lamotta was a lesser fighter by that point, strength and stamina were key for him so any reduvtion is bad, and robinson was well up in the series by then.

I'm not saying robinson doesn't look very good there and lamotta was shot yet or anything tho.

I think LaMotta looked alright in the middle rounds, but those were also competitive. Robinson took over when LaMotta started to fade quickly, in large part due to LaMotta being drained no doubt. Just the kind of circumstances that would make such a victory today be discarded.

Oscar "looking corpselike" is a bad, General Forum like exagerration imo - even though he was no doubt drained and also rusty.

I'll put it another way then.

Oscar probably didn't win one minute of any round against Manny.

LaMotta won as many as four rounds against perhaps the greatest fighter ever to appear on film.

It's a ludicrous comparison with no meaning, Bokaj.

As for the win being "discarded" today, I totally disagree, and furthermore anyone dismissing a victory over an ATG at the weight who also has to be an incumbent champion who had mounted perhaps the most astonishing rear-guard action in history after fifteen rounds of tough action no less, only several months earlier, is an imbecile.

Finally, there is extensive evidence on film, where LaMotta looks superb. I have no idea where you're coming from with this, really.

Such powers of observation and judgment !

    Such insight !

The dude's wasted on a mere forum educating the pions.

He should be training/scouting/managing or something more in the higher echelons of the manly art.

Well that opinion MUST carry significant weight.

Dino was capable of assessing Greb's abilities solely from film of his shadow-boxing, so he could probably predict Johnson's every move in any fight, given that he's seen film of Johnson's actual boxing !

Terry Norris,Dropped and stopped several times. `Big` victories against smallish Brown,Taylor and well worn SRL,Mugabi. Whenever Terry stepped up,he got laid down,HARD !!

If we're talking by me then Harold Johnson.

I'm with McGrain on the Lamotta thing. Oscar retired never to be heard from again. Lamotta still had enough to beat and be competitive with several solid fighters.

Robinson would have destroyed Terry Norris.

Were you not impressed with him at all or do you just think of him as very good.
