I couldn't believe it. I was more mad that it ended so quickly. I was watching it at home with the whole family. It was a fun fight, but I definitely wanted and expected more! lol
Laughter as two simultaneous thoughts ran through my head. Dempsey knocking Sharkey out as he was complaining to the ref, and Mayweather telling Ortiz that if he made any mistakes he'll have to pay. One of those great moments in boxing. Up there with Mike biting Holyfields ear off, or the fan man incident. Come to think of it Holyfield had a bunch of interesting fights! Hahahaha!!
I rank that moment along with **** like Tyson biting Holyfields ear, or the mom who jumped in the ring swinging her purse....or the parachute man who flew into the ring.... We can pretend to be mad all we want about that fight or take it for what it was a memerable moment in time.....you don't see anyone in here talking about Floyd fighting Corley or Brusseles....but we would have had some crazy bizzare moment happened....
It was a cheap shot and an unsatisfactory conclusion but that obviously intended headbutt that prceeded it was way worse and I have no wish to see ortiz get another shot at Mayweather. It's bad enough idiots are clamouring for another one win wonder in Maidana to get a shot in an obvious mismatch in which he will lose every second of every round.
1-win wonder? :huh Maidana has beaten Ortiz himself, as well as JSK, Morales (with difficulty), previously unbeaten Cayo, Lopez, Corley.... You can say Broner is his best win but hardly his only good one.
:nono A sucker punchatsch Ortiz deserved a good kick in the head after he went down:!: I can't get over people calling it a sucker punch....it is boxing and the golden rule is to protect yourself at all times:hey :smoke
At welterweight he is a one win wonder mate. Done nothing at 147 other than get clowned by Alexander and get wins over an extremely overhyped Broner, karass and lopez. People are overrating him because he managed to beat one of the most overrated fighter of the past few years. Madness.
I don't think anybody is overrating him or even giving him a chance to do anything but get shut out by Mayweather. The most complimentary things being said about him now are that he is a more suitable choice for Mayweather than Khan, which he currently is. (despite their h2h result) Agreed his welter resume is, while solid enough so far, not very deep - but Khan's is nonexistent.
Did victor headbut floyd delibrately? the skunt got what he deserved. He did say he was going to headbutt before the bout right? forget that did you folks!
:good:scaredas: He got away with two before the ref called his little crying:| arse out on the third:hey :smoke
Well, I haven't seen all the fights you mentioned, but if I remember Abraham, Barerra and Dib were all rightfully penalised for their antics; Jones Jr, too. I would say it was more heat of the moment stuff with those guys, though. I just re-watched the Ortiz KO and to be fair you're right it isn't the worst I ever saw. I forgot about Ortiz' pathetic hugging and kissing, I also think he could have made a bigger effort to get up. It was still bad, though, I don't like that stuff. The whole episode was shoddy, but in truth it was Ortiz who was most at fault.
From what I remember. That was intended to be a very good fight. Ortiz was champ coming off the biggest win of his career. Was seen as an actual threat to give Floyd trouble. With his handspeed. Power. And him being a southpaw and all. Then the fight started and he began getting outclassed. I remember in the fourth round. FLOYD hit him with like a 5-6 punch combo. Ortiz cornered him and couldnt connect. Proceeded to headbutt him.then kiss him. And then it was time to fight. And Floyd murked that fool. I was laughing and debating with my friends who were going for Ortiz. Then Floyd spazzed on Merchant Then Merchant gave his infamous quote
