What is your single favourite year in boxing? 1982 for me, Arguello vs. Pryor, Holmes vs. ****ey, Hearns vs. Benitez. Other honourable mentions: 1987, both Tyson and Holyfield were on top of the respective divisions and Hagler/Leonard was an event.
i watched my first fight in 1987 (tyson vs tubbs), and watched all the big Hw title fights with my pops from that point on... but it wasnt till 1996 that i became a full on die hard fan...it was a combo of the Tyson Holy fight finally happening after 5 years of waiting, and being introduced to fighters like Tito, Gatti, and Roy Jones back them you used to get a half way decent PPV card, usually a couple of lower weight title fights on tbe card as well. nothing special about 1996 as far as matchmaking, just the year i became a full on , magazine reading fan
1982 and it's not even close. The introduction of Camacho, Rafeal Limon had regained the title and even the prelims were awesome
Don't forget Gomez - Pintor! We also had Sanchez - Nelson. From memory there was some serious action at 130 too, Chacon - Limon for one. Benitez schooled Duran too i think.
