No, you're absolutely missing the point. I like being entertained by lesser talented guys; that's the appeal of a small hall show. Benn isn't in a fight he is in any danger of losing; his obvious flaws just make it look like that may happen. If Hearn wants to put lesser talented guys on who will almost always be in exciting fights, then I'm all for that but give the fighters who aren't where they are because of their surname get a shot at that first.

British boxing isn't undergoing a revamp at all - it's just getting more expensive to watch.

 

Saying put guys on who arent where they are just because of there surname is your opinion on how a card should run.
However that may not make you a succesful promoter and a consequence of succesful promoters equates to how strong prizefighting is as a sport (add inverted commas).
Prizefighting is about generating money so if some guy attracts viewing because of his surname and nothing else and another guy is a 3 times olympic champ and happens to live in the same city or area a show is been held but no one is interested in him apart from a handful then it makes more buisness sense to put on the guy who will attract tens of thousands of viewers because this is the schematics of the model, if it makes money it makes sense.
Pro boxing as a concept and working model is no different to wwe has in wwe has its roots in wrestling which goes back thousands of yrs its just that wwe has swung its pendulum further on the spectrum to the point of acting within the area of entertainment. We saw haye moving in this direction on his last show.
Because your passionate about boxing you want to believe its a honest sport where the best will make it to the top but the model aint set up that way its set up to generate money i.e prizefighting which is exactly what it is.

I would also disagree with your opinion that boxing isnt undergoing a revamp and im comparing it to the 10yr prior here But i do agree its getting more expensive to watch.

 

Oh I totally get why - from a promotional point of view - he is on there, but like you say I'm just totally against it. I'm a fan and I like seeing fighters work their way to bigger fights and the like, not through nepotism. But yeah, it is what it is

Very young, very raw, way too early to tell if he'll be any good at the higher levels.

It's sad to say, but young Mr Benn entirely justifies his place on the TV cards. His name will get bums on seats and TVs tuned in. Plus, if he keeps having entertaining fights like that one he will generate that interest on his own and won't have to use his dad's rep. At the end of the day, there's no point putting on a TV show that nobody wants to watch. There has to be an attraction and, like it or not, he's an attraction.

It's not his fault that life's dealt him a good hand - nobody said life is fair - so rather than complain let's just kick back and see how he gets on. Good luck to the kid.
