It's easy to look good when you are responding to a blundering nonsense of an initial post.

Not touchy at all, Dinamita. One win doesn't make a resume. If you beat one ATG and then fought 45 bums or no-marks, you don't autmatically have a better resume that a guy who fought 44 solid contenders and lost to an ATG. That was the context of that comment, as I'm sure you know.

I suppose its about how much value you attach to the height of a single win as opposed to the depth of a complete resume. Whitaker's resume is a very good one, but as I said, does a great fighter like Whitaker merely deserve a "very good" resume, or do we (you) talk that resume up a little to make it appear better than it actually is, so it fits neatly into the current perceptions of a fighter who can do no wrong in the eyes of many?

As for those fighters that Mayweather "could have fought but didn't", lets just wait until those facts are set in stone before we pass judgement on them. FMJ is an active fighter with a few years left on the clock. If Mayweather's resume isn't better than Whitaker's, I have the distinct feeling that it will be when all is said and done.

Most people have MAB winning the 1st & 3rd fights & most have Morales winning the 2nd, thats fine with me, I didnt see no clear win for Barrera in any fight but it doesnt matter what I think, the score will stay 2-1 till the end of time.

Morales DID win the 2nd fight clearer than anything Barrera might have won tho, I wish he would get his due more often for that.

A lazy assumption. Puts too much emphasis on trope. Disagreeing with the perception of 'Whitaker being vastly superior to Mayweather in every conceivable way' doesn't automatically equate to 'I think Mayweather is superior to Whitaker'. :nono

And if you would x out boxrec and actually do some research on the subject, you would learn that not only does Whitaker have more top fighters on his resume, but his resume is also, unarguably deeper as well...moreso if you use your own eyes to judge fights like Ramirez 1 and Chavez, rather than go on again what boxrec tells you.

You are underrating the value of the wins over McGirt at welterweight, for sure. McGirt was a better welter than Tito or Quartey, IMO, and for a lightweight to move up and beat him twice with two excellent performances are superb achievements that you have completely disregarded.

You still haven't put forth one solitary name that Whitaker could've/should've fought but didn't. He beat the best of his era, that's all he could do. He convincingly beat two ATGs, and performed very well against another (Oscar) where the circumstances made the loss only enhance his resume. That is why he is rated as an ATG, there is no other reason. He beat quality opposition, he looked sensational doing it. What other reason can there be?

If you think Mayweather's resume is better than Whitaker's, I can't help you. Good luck.

Whitaker is superior to Mayweather in every way except punching power. Unlike you, I know how to take a strong stand and will then justify it when questioned. Instead of wriggling around like a worm trying not to commit, how about you do the same?

Over-rated: Roy Jones Jr – completely disproportionate appreciation of a guy who beat a succession of bums and no-hopers once he got to LHW. His earlier wins over Toney and Hopkins are good wins, but his losses to Griffin (entirely justified loss, no matter how the Roy-Boys try and spin it), Tarver twice and Johnson let him down.

The excuses for these losses are just pathetic: he got beaten by guys that weren’t afraid to punch with him, just accept it.

    Under-rated? Right now, it’s Cotto.
