Some people have Hopkins as the fighter of the decade
Some people have already got Pacquiao in their all time top 10

Mayweather & Pacquiao are easily the top 2 FOTD & Pac is not top 10 at the moment, no way.

The first two can be argued, but Floyd? Floyd is supremely talented, dont get me wrong...but the only thing that he has over Pernell is power and arguably handspeed. That is it...

Only a General Forum imbecile would have Pacquiao in their all-time top 10. But there are General Forum imbeciles for all fighters. Mayweather, Calzaghe, Klitschko, Hamed, the list is endless. If you use those tiny extremist factions to justify saying someone is overrated, then almost everyone is overrated. I refuse to accept even one single respected poster has Pacquiao in their all-time top ten.

I can easily see why someone would have Mayweather over Hopkins or Hopkins over Mayweather. Resume is one of if not the major factor for the majority of people, and Hopkins has a better resume than Mayweather. Therefore even if you believe Mayweather is greater p4p, having Hopkins cannot be considered the same as having someone like Naseem Hamed over Mayweather.

I'm not so sure about that. Perceptions of DLH are fairly negative or dismissive on ESB, I think down to poor memories as much as anything.

Quartey is a good call for underrated, made me think of Clottey currently being somewhat the same.

Handspeed and power aren't exactly insignificant attributes.

Better athlete as well, I would say Whitaker is better defensively and had a better jab........but overall Mayweather is better in terms of technical proficiency IMO.

    My question was:

For the three criteria I listed, Floyd "one punch at a time" Mayweather isn't on Pea's level for any of them.

Roy Jones fails on the first two, as Pea was a better boxer and had more variety. You could argue the third.

You can argue one way or the other between Leonard and Whitaker for all three. Because SRL beat better opponents, I rate him slightly higher than Whitaker in all-time p4p terms. There are only a couple of people from the last 50 years you could rank higher than Whitaker, he is one of the most complete and best boxers ever.

Clottey is without doubt the most overrated fighter on ESB. He is basic, one-dimensional, his combination punching is poor, he doesn't have great speed or punching power. Margarito beat him, and a ****ing one-eyed Cyclops version of Cotto beat him. He is C-level, B at best. He wouldn't win a round against a Mayweather or a Pacquiao.

Whitaker was a much better combination puncher. His attacks were more varied and creative. He was slightly more elusive, and a marginally more economic and effective mover. I think Mayweather has a slightly stiffer jab, quicker hands, more power and a better tactical brain, as well as a more proffesional approach in general. The point in comparing the two is, that there isn't a lot of difference, yet people get outraged by the suggestion that Whitaker isn't actually light years ahead of Mayweather in any deprtment, bar one.

Power wouldn't be insignificant if the difference in power between Whitaker and Mayweather was itself significant, but it isn't. Mayweather's power was a bit better, but we're not comparing Bob Foster with Paulie Malignaggi here.

Handspeed?? Please. See the first McGirt fight for evidence of Pea's handspeed. He holds a clear edge over Mayweather in this department... to add to the rest.

Fair points about Hopkins but I personally would never put him over FMJ or Pac, my feelings are that it MUST be between these 2 for FOTD, he`s a great fighter right enough so I`ll not keep the debate going on this one, some of his big fight performances were nothing short of outstanding - masterclasses.

Pea & Duran make my top 10 p4p list but it does seem they can do no wrong at times on ESB, I dont like speaking against those guys in truth because they are 2 of my fav`s & are 2 fighters I watch regularly on DVD.

Some rank Lewis as the GOAT at HWT, thats enough for me, thats overrating him, nothing else to say on that pick.

Ive tried to address everything except the EM-MAB thing but Ive did that so many times its heartbreaking so no more
