It unfortunate that the fight was stopped on cuts and Zaveck showed that he is a class act. I am all for a rematch but I dont think Berto will give it to him because he is looking for a big payday. Maybe at a later date. Zaveck showed that he is ready for prime time and Im sure we will see him again in the states.:bbb:bbb:bbb

Headbutts happen in boxing...was a close fight, I had it even..hopefully they'll rematch...I like Zaveck tho, he's got some nice skills, reminds me a bit of Kotelnik

A rematch seems extremely unlikely, but I'd like to see him on HBO again. There are plenty of good fights to be made in that division, and he proved last night that he's game.

I think he stopped most of Berto's legal aggression well with his gloves. He prob didn't count on getting headbutted, as I dont think till now, that was Berto's style, but as noted above, he has learned well.

And I think it was Berto getting gassed and who was perhaps even getting hit with cleaner shots who might have gone down in later rds.

You guys never learn do you? You really can't get it even when you mention the main item compete. Most european boxers can be highly skilled, exceptionally athletic and technically gifted. They are not just prepared to the pace, roughness, offense and tricks that the americans and latin-americans offer. If you are one Ricky Hatton or Joe Calzaghe or Nigel Benn and can't stop going at it or you're done. And then against Berto who is exceptionally fast-handed and carries plenty of power at 147 pounds, let me tell ya...

honestly, ZXavek made me a fan last night. better than i gave credit for. berto easily won on pts at that point but the tide was changing and Zavek might have come on stronger in 2nd half..... wouldn't mind a rematch....would rather see ortiz rematch for berto though and zavek get a shot at someone else....he can probabaly beat senchenko for another strap.

He deserves to get another big fight, but even if he gets it and wins it, he's probably just too old at this point to profit from it. Getting in top condition at 35 is not an easy thing to do either..

Don't want to sound too bitter, but it's just heartbreaking to see a guy finaly get a decent shot at this age and then lose in such an unfortunate manner. He comes across as a really humble and likeable guy, yet resilient and tough enough to succeed at a very decent level.

He is still considered a hero in Slovenia and at very least he brought a lot of interest in the sport here. Pro boxing simply didn't exist in Slovenia before he came and it's good to see more people following his footsteps.

100% Agree. I Don't dis-credit Berto at all, but Zaveck deff was in the fight in a BIG way before the cut stoppage.

Hopefully sooner than later Zaveck can get the rm on HBO bad, or a good ppv undercard spot.

Zaveck's warrior heart, and ability has made me a big fan of him, that's for sure. And I do give Berto credit for putting on his second fight in a row that happened to be a barnburner.

I thought the cuts were caused by head clashes, and Zaveck was coming on. If he survived, I was starting to smell Berto getting stopped late, as Zaveck seemed to be hitting Berto with more and more frequency. Honestly though, I may have given Zaveck one round. Berto was still landing the harder crisper shots with more frequency most of the time. Not really grounds for a rematch.

I think zaveck won at least 2 of 5 rounds...his % of landed punches and overall landed puches were higher then berto`s.

Belive me guys..if there werent headbutts we would see one hell of the fight. As till that everything went of Zaveck`s tactic and Berto looked out fo gas and Jan was just warming his motors..damn he has a stamina the same for 12 rounds!

He deserve a rematch but i guess without a title he is nothing to Americans so he wont get a rematch...but Jan said Berto promise him that! hehe
