I like Zhang but I can’t see him winning like some people think. He will have his moments of success but his stamina is far too poor to beat Joyce. I think Joyce will also be slightly more cautious due to Zhang’s power, with Joyce getting a stoppage around round 9.

 

If I was Zhang I would try to pursue Joyce early for the KO. If Joyce runs and only stays on the outside jabbing, refusing to engage with the plan to tire out Zhang and get after him late, then I would simply stand still. I would stand in the middle of the ring and not chase him around. Just stand there waiting for a counter opportunity.

I think Joyce is in for a hard night here. Zhang hasn't come to make up the numbers.

Joyce will be smashing a Chinese in around the same time a Big John Fisher on Saturday night, all these people making out as though Zhang at 39 is a killer.
Joyce is Legit a top 3/4 contender Zhang is lucky to even be top 10 he hasn't got a recognized win on his record and even has a draw with 3 K/Ds with Jerry Forrest what makes people think he has the power to knock out Joe Joyce who has an ATG chin?
Ian Lewison would be a top 5 Zhang win lol.

Hrgovic outworked him, but the big blows came from Zhang. Thats why i thought the draw was justifiable. But on a round by round, Hrgovic may of nicked it.

 

Joe Joyce hasnt got an ATG chin ffs. And even solid chins get cracked at heavyweight.

Its not ATG level hes been hurt before in the amatuers. He would have to proof his ATG chin against ATG punchers first by the way. A very solid chin.

 

Zhang was effective in first few rounds, but later Hrgovic beat him black and blue.

 

I thought Hrgovic looked like he wanted to give up on numerous occasions.

 

Stopped on his feet as an amateur though, those 2 stoppages would never have been in the pro's imo. I just think his chin is ATG level he has ate some massive shots and none of them ever seem to stop him rolling forward. All my opinion ofc.

 

I actually think Joyce has rather underrated defense. For as slow and robotic as he is, he sure does seem be able to see most punches coming at him.

Every looping left Parker threw, Joyce tried to cut off with his raised right hand. Nearly every big right hand Parker landed, Joyce seemed to ride with. And the flush shots that did land, landed mainly on the top of his head. Parker never really got to that chin, with the exception of a few beautiful uppercuts and left hooks.
It´s not like Joyce is some defensive wizard, but he sees the shots coming. Pretty hard to KO someone like that.
But I don´t aim to shut down your argument completely. I just think you are way off the mark with the "home run hitter" part. That´s simply not who Zhang is. Zhang is all about timing and hand speed. And he will undoubtedly light up Joyce like it´s December 2023.
Question is, can Zhang be the one to land a shot Joyce doesn´t see coming? I think it´s quite possible.

I can´t wait for this one. It´s pressure and heavy hands vs speed and quick counters. It´s going to be a really good fight.
