With two wins over Joyce and a win over Wilder, Zhang surpasses Chagaev's resume, but somehow I think in that fight Chagaev could be like Parker and Kabayel...
Prime Zhilei Zhang the one that I watched in the past at Pékin in amateur 2007-2013 is definetely someone. Prime Chagaev was also one of my favorite I'm pretty sure he was superior at this time than Ibragimov, Maskaev and Pulev. Many peoples forgot than Povetkin lost against Chagaev and Marco Huck... the Russian have gift decision against both of them. The Chagaev against Lucas Browne is very big and not even a top 30, I was also pretty sad that he become very close friend with Kadyrov... So I will say draw here. I can't not choose.
Going out on a limb here and picking Chagaev on points. His head movement wasn't too bad and he was pretty busy up close. He also was as tough as boiled leather. Wlad landed a bunch of stuff on him and did not find it easy to break him down. Zhang has the power to destroy anybody but his workrate leaves much to be desired. There's a healthy chance he knocks Ruslan's block off early, but if Chagaev makes it to the part where Zhang gasses and throws 4 punches a round, the fight is his to lose.
Chagaev a clear favourite to beat Zhang, and arguably has done something very like it already against an opponent with a higher workrate and more stamina.
