What are they supposed to do? Letting people give the product you sell away for nothing is not a good business practice. They may not be able to stop it, but they can't afford to let it go either. It wouldn't take long for the fans to find out about the free places to watch the UFC events if no measure was taken to stop it. I'm guilty of catching a stream, or so, that I didn't pay for. I'm not claiming moral superiority. The reality is that catching an unauthorized stream is the same as eating a candy bar out of the box someone stole from the convenient store.
Nothing, if you think it is ok to steal. It's completely wrong if you believe stealing is wrong. I'm not the ultimate authority on moral conduct.
No it isn't. Hosting a stream is more like one person buying a giant box of chocolate bars and sharing them with everyone that wants one. Or something.
:thumbsup Boom. Thats a battle that the UFC wont win. And all for what a handful of PPV's they couldnt cash in on thats equivalent to a tiny fraction of their revenue when they make billions?
Theres not much point in taking a moral high ground with the Internet when the Internets sole purpose and design is for FILE SHARING. That is the inherent nature of the Internet and simply cannot be changed or stopped.
I stated earlier in the thread that I'm not claiming to be any better than anyone. I am guilty of participating in what the ufc, the movie industry, and record companies have been trying to prevent. If you condone stealing, then participating in streams is not going to be wrong for you. If you don't condone stealing, then it is not right. You're breaking your own code. The only argument you can try to make for sharing, is what a person that has legally obtained property does with it after getting it. These companies own the distribution rights to their material. When you purchase their material, you get the viewing rights. I guess you could try to make the argument that by sharing the files, you are sharing your viewing right with others. I think it's a weak argument personally, but one you could make. You can only make that argument if the stream is coming from someone who has legally obtained it.
talking about "moral codes" i got one myself. I got no problem "stealing" from some corporation run by a bunch of hot shot suits, but i might have a problem stealing from some hot shot suits personal home/items.
Zuffa has every right to go after guys. The problem is its a battle which cant be won. Just ask the music and movie industry.
You can't stop the internet lol. I guess live streaming would be a little easier to stop but all of the fights will be uploaded within an hour after the end of the show. THAT will be impossible to stop.
