Thursday in Chechnya, to be aired live on Матч!Боец. WBO super middleweight European title at stake, Idigov's second defense. Kashtanov has lapsed into a bit of a sparring partner's mentality, even before this skid of three consecutive losses. He previously had fought his way into contention twice only to be robbed against Karoly Balzsay in 2011 and then Félix Valera four years later. Most recently he was screwed against Haxhi "Robin" Krasniqi for the vacant EBU strap at 168, and since this final straw appears to have just embraced his role as traveling distance-goer to pad locals' records. Even with his resigned attitude I'm not sure I trust his loss to Sergei Ekimov in Russia nor Jayde Mitchell in Australia to have been fair & square (he was dropped by the former but still held Ekimov to a SD). Idigov certainly is 'supposed' to win here, although he didn't impress me too much in his previous step up versus Ryan Ford in February...so he could be stepping on the proverbial rake here depending on the disgruntled but talented Ukrainian's motivation.
Damn, I made a mistake and voted Idigov KO. I meant UD. I wasn't focused. I'd have picked the Kashtanov that beat Valera and got robbed without hesitation, however since then, Kashtanov has shown to be in serious decline, even losing to someone like Ekimov, who is woeful and losing to Jayde Mitchell, who's also average. I think Ryan Ford could beat both of those guys handily, as well as Idigov. So yeah, not thrilled to say that, I like Kashtanov, and he's been screwed several times, but I doubt he wins this.
Who's this Abdulkerim Edilov in the co-main event? Taking on Denis Bakhtov in just his third pro bout. Now granted Bakhtov is a shell of his once formidable self and is riding a seven loss skid over the last half-decade, but still - jumping in with him this soon at the very least implies this Edilov was some hot-shit amateur.
ZXCVBNM recently sacrificed himself to the elder gods as a trade off for - Stiverne, Scott, Mansour, Larsen, Pala and Bakhtov ruling the division with an iron fist for the next decade.
I think you saw him in action https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...drey-sirotkin-rbr.644441/page-2#post-20315768
I just read this is penciled in for 12-3pm EST on Матч!Боец ... I'm both skeptical, and hoping that isn't accurate (since I'm not done working until 3:30pm! ) That is 7-10pm local time. Usually the Russian cards run until midnight or later, IIRC. @SladeW, what do you reckon?
a bit of emotion with this one, but I don't think that unlikely. Should be a competitive fight and we all know how iffy most of Kashtanovs losses are. Hope he gets a well earned win though. One of the most unlucky fighters in all of boxing. The guy has every right to be bitter.
