I'm genuinely curious why you make so many Anthony Joshua threads for someone who apparently doesn't like him you sure do like talking about him alot. It's like you try and find every negative aspect just to make a thread about him it's quite disturbing how obsessive it is. For reference. No? Wtf would be the point in a 35 year old past his prime fighter immediately rematching an opponent who just brutally knocked him out? His choices are to go for one last payday or retire. His days as an elite fighter are over. No amount of money is worth letting a young hard hitting monster like Dubois bash your brains in for the 2nd time. This decision doesn't affect Joshua's legacy at all.
This thread was made because it was said loud and clear that the rematch would be immediately pursued. If you would like to rephrase the title as "Does Joshua abandoning plans for Dubois II..." feel free. I'm not sure who "the real AJ" is to some folks on this forum, but for some reason people think when Joshua loses it wasn't "the real him". Perhaps there's a body double out there and the one with less boxing skills is 0-4.
Plus, Joshua has zero argument for a rematch this time around; it's right that Parker is getting his chance. And I think you are correct that Joshua is done as an elite fighter. 8 years of fighting around the top level is beyond expectation for most heavyweights. He had his Rahman/Douglas wobble, and put it right in the rematch. He came up short against an ATG in Usyk, but has a solid enough win over an aging one in Klitschko. And eventually he just ran into the next generation coming into their prime in Dubois after he had left his own. It's just the natural order of things. If WBA regular titles are included, Joshua fought 8 past- or future-belt holders (6 if WBA reg is excluded). Pretty good going, even if he did end up falling short. As you say, his days as an elite heavyweight are over, but maybe we can still see Fury v Joshua. But no point him taking a beating off the younger Dubois a second time. Plus, as I say, he just doesn't deserve another title shot. It's time for others to get their chance.
Or I could just create a Slyk's Baba Tears Master Thread About AJ to dump this and all your other AJ hate threads in? The real AJ would be the one who doesn't show up with his hands down by his chest and pulling back with his chin in the air like he's forgotten all his fundamentals over night
No. I actually think it is a good thing for him to take a step back at this point. Apparently he wants to continue on. Good on him.
Yes because a world heavyweight title is on the line. Some fighters would give their left nut for the chance.
1st I'll preface this by saying there are too many rematches in the sport (especially immediate rematches) Pertaining to this, there is no point in a rematch. It would be even less pointless than his rematch with Usyk. Joshua was dominated from pillar to post, he was melted multiple times then melted into submission. He couldn't even make the count. There is no scenario in which he would be able to overturn that loss, not a loss like that. That's how lopsided the fight was. Sometimes, there's no point in a rematch not when you've met someone clearly your superior. He wasn't the champion (I use this term very loosely because that's Usyk's belt) anyway, there's simply nothing to warrant it
