    I'd just like to point out that Miske, after losing to Dempsey went on a 2 year winning spree of 20 fights and among his victims were;
    Renault x2
    Fulton
    Gibbons
    Brennan
    Meehan
    Weinert
    He lost just one fight after Dempsey, to Gibbons.
    Prior to his title shot Miske had beaten;
    Greb
    Levinsky x3
    Dillon x3
    Weinert
    Morris
    Smith

    The only man who ever stopped him was Dempsey.
    So perhaps he wasn't such a low hanging fruit after all?

    Reading Pollack's second Dempsey book, it's odd how little he mentions Miske's illness (and often referred to just as a spinal issue) while Moyle's book on Miske goes into it extensively. I've been meaning to make a thread of it, hoping for clarification on how sick he was. I understand that Bright's is a condition that goes into remission and then flares up. So maybe the timing was such.

    All that said, results are results. And Miske's results were impressive after the fight, right up until months before his death.

    That's how I see it, Rocky was waaay to hittable early to survive Dempsey and rising off the canvas against Walcott and Moore will be a cake walk next to surviving Dempsey's onslaught.

    MODS: Can we please create a "Marciano" Forum where these kinds of thread can be placed?

    Thank you, Frank. In. Dallas.

    Marciano is my pick, as always.

    Dempsey's best chance is to take Marciano out early. But he's also vulnerable early himself. Think he gets caught with something while going for the bum rush and is slowed enough or hurt enough to allow Marciano to build up a head of steam.

    Miske KO1 1988 Mike Tyson and 1991 Evander Holyfield. No one convinces me otherwise!

    Dempsey would be far and away the fastest, and most powerful fighter Marciano's faced which would be decisive imo. I honestly don't see one category where Marciano reigns superior aside from endurance.

    Marciano is the greater fighter of course, but Dempsey's all wrong for him.

    Siki won the LHW title off Carpentier (who didn't even train) and went on to lose it against Mike McTigue in his first title defense. What heavyweight contender did Siki beat to be considered for Dempsey's title?

    Jack Johnson was in his mid-40s, Langford was practically blind. How do any of these fights make sense? Godfrey?

    Jack Dempsey had already fought Miske to a decision beforehand, prior to his sickness. Miske was a far better fighter than Siki.

    I do agree that the Wills fight should've happened. The decision not to fight him was largely out of his hands.
